Job Description
St Francis Xavier High School is seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Counselor to join our vibrant team. This pivotal role involves providing comprehensive guidance and counseling services to students, supporting their academic, career, and social-emotional development. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with students, parents, teachers, and administration to create a positive and inclusive school environment that promotes student well-being and success. You will be instrumental in helping students navigate challenges, explore their potential, and make informed decisions about their future paths. This includes offering individual and group counseling, developing and implementing guidance programs, conducting assessments, and providing crisis intervention when necessary. We are looking for an individual who is passionate about youth development, possesses excellent communication skills, and has a strong commitment to fostering a nurturing educational experience for all students. Your expertise will be vital in helping our students build resilience, self-awareness, and the skills needed to thrive in an ever-changing world. Key Responsibilities
- Provide individual and group counseling services to students on academic, career, and personal/social issues.
- Develop and implement school-wide guidance programs focused on character development, career exploration, and academic success.
- Assist students in developing effective coping mechanisms, problem-solving skills, and decision-making abilities.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and administrators to support student growth and address specific needs.
- Conduct student assessments and interpret results to guide interventions and referrals.
- Facilitate crisis intervention and conflict resolution, ensuring student safety and well-being.
- Maintain accurate and confidential student records in compliance with professional and ethical standards.
- Participate in parent-teacher conferences and provide resources to families.
- Advocate for student needs and collaborate with external agencies as appropriate.
- Stay informed of current trends and best practices in school counseling.

- Fluency in Shona or Ndebele is a significant advantage.
