As an Entry-Level School Counselor, you will work under the guidance of experienced professionals, providing essential support services across academic, career, and social/emotional development domains. This role involves direct student interaction, collaborating with educators and parents, and contributing to school-wide initiatives designed to promote student success and well-being. We believe in nurturing talent, and you will receive comprehensive training and mentorship to build a strong foundation in school counseling practices. Your days will be dynamic, ranging from individual student check-ins and small group sessions to assisting with crisis intervention and developing preventative programs.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide individual and small group counseling to students regarding academic, social, emotional, and career development concerns.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and administrators to support student success and address behavioral issues.
- Assist in the development and implementation of school-wide guidance programs and initiatives.
- Participate in crisis intervention and prevention efforts as needed.
- Maintain accurate and confidential student records in accordance with ethical and legal guidelines.
- Refer students and families to appropriate community resources when specialized support is required.
- Support college and career readiness activities, including exploration and planning.
- Promote a positive school climate and foster respectful relationships among students and staff.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and supervision.
Required Skills
- Master's degree in School Counseling or a closely related field.
- Eligibility for or possession of an Indiana School Counselor License (or ability to obtain within a short timeframe).
- Strong understanding of child and adolescent development.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and active listening skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations, families, and school staff.
- Basic knowledge of counseling theories and techniques.
- Proficiency in maintaining confidential student information.
- Empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for student well-being.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in an educational setting (e.g., practicum, internship, volunteer work).
- Familiarity with local community resources in Evansville, IN.
- Experience with data collection and program evaluation in a school setting.
- Bilingual proficiency (e.g., Spanish).
