Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the preparation, portioning, and presentation of meals according to daily menus and dietary guidelines.
  • Serve meals to students in an efficient, friendly, and hygienic manner, ensuring all children receive appropriate servings.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen equipment, serving areas, and dining spaces before, during, and after meal service.
  • Monitor and manage food inventory, reporting any shortages or expiring items to the program coordinator.
  • Adhere strictly to all food safety, hygiene, and health regulations and standards, including proper food handling and storage.
  • Foster a welcoming and positive atmosphere in the dining area, encouraging students to enjoy their meals.
  • Assist with the setup and breakdown of dining tables and serving stations.
  • Communicate effectively with school staff, students, and fellow team members to ensure smooth program operation.
  • Handle minor incidents or spills safely and efficiently, ensuring a clean and safe environment for all.

Required Skills

  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a team environment.
  • Basic understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, especially with children.
  • Reliability and punctuality are essential.
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 25 lbs, and perform repetitive tasks.
  • A positive attitude and a genuine desire to contribute to children's well-being.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a food service, catering, or childcare setting.
  • Valid Food Handler’s Certificate (or willingness to obtain one upon hiring).
  • Experience working with school-aged children.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
