Career.zycto is actively seeking a highly dedicated, compassionate, and skilled Full-Time School Nurse to become an integral part of a dynamic educational institution located in the heart of Downtown Regina. As the primary healthcare professional within the school community, you will be the cornerstone of our comprehensive health services. Your responsibilities will encompass providing expert immediate and long-term medical care, meticulously managing student health records, and diligently promoting healthy lifestyles through targeted education and preventative programs. Furthermore, you will serve as a critical liaison, fostering effective communication and collaboration between students, their families, school administration, and external healthcare providers. We are specifically searching for a proactive and empathetic professional who possesses a genuine passion for pediatric health, exceptional skills in emergency response and first aid, and proven expertise in managing chronic health conditions within a school setting. This role transcends the provision of immediate medical attention; it extends to the development and implementation of robust health education initiatives, the execution of proactive preventative strategies, and unwavering advocacy for student welfare. You will collaborate closely with school staff, parents, and relevant community resources to craft and uphold effective health policies, conduct crucial health screenings, and oversee comprehensive immunization programs. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide immediate first aid and emergency care to students and staff as needed, including managing acute illnesses and injuries.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with school policy, physician orders, and best practices.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized healthcare plans (IHCPs) for students with chronic health conditions, allergies, or other special needs.
  • Conduct comprehensive health screenings, including vision, hearing, and scoliosis, and facilitate appropriate referrals for follow-up care.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential, and up-to-date student health records, ensuring strict compliance with provincial privacy regulations (e.g., HIPA).
  • Educate students, school staff, and parents on a wide range of health-related topics, such as hygiene, nutrition, disease prevention, mental health awareness, and substance abuse.
  • Manage and oversee school immunization programs, ensuring student compliance with provincial requirements and maintaining proper documentation.
  • Collaborate effectively with school administration, teachers, support staff, and parents to foster a safe, inclusive, and healthy school environment.
  • Identify, assess, and report suspected cases of child abuse, neglect, or other vulnerable situations in strict accordance with provincial laws and school policies.
  • Participate actively in the development, review, and revision of school health policies, emergency preparedness plans, and health education curricula.

Required Skills

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing with the Saskatchewan Registered Nurses' Association (SRNA).
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 2 years of progressive nursing experience, preferably in pediatric nursing, public health, community health, or emergency care.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) is a strong asset.
  • Exceptional clinical assessment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills for interacting with students, parents, staff, and healthcare providers.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong organizational abilities, meticulous attention to detail, and efficient time management.
  • Proficiency in managing electronic health records (EHR) systems and standard office software.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience specifically as a School Nurse or in a school-based health setting.
  • Additional certifications in areas such as mental health first aid, advanced trauma care, or wound management.
  • Thorough familiarity with Saskatchewan's public health guidelines, educational system policies, and relevant legislation.
  • Fluency in a second language relevant to the diverse student population within Regina (e.g., French, Indigenous languages).
