Job Description
A School Psychologist at Career.zycto plays a pivotal role in creating a supportive and effective learning environment for all students. This is a full-time opportunity to significantly contribute to the mental health, behavioral, and academic success of children and adolescents within our vibrant Sillery community schools. We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and highly skilled professional who is passionate about promoting psychological well-being and advocating for the needs of diverse student populations.
In this role, you will be responsible for conducting comprehensive psycho-educational assessments, interpreting results, and developing individualized intervention plans. You will work collaboratively with teachers, parents, administrators, and other specialists to address students’ learning and behavioral challenges, providing guidance and strategies to optimize their educational experience. Your expertise will be crucial in identifying students at risk, implementing preventative programs, and providing crisis intervention services when necessary.

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive psycho-educational assessments, including cognitive, academic, social-emotional, and behavioral evaluations.
- Interpret assessment results and write clear, concise reports that inform educational planning.
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized intervention strategies and behavior support plans.
- Provide direct and indirect services to students, including counseling, skill-building groups, and crisis intervention.
- Consult with teachers, parents, and administrators on student needs, effective instructional strategies, and classroom management techniques.
- Participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings, including Individualized Education Program (IEP) and Section 504 meetings.
- Implement and support school-wide mental health and behavioral programs.
- Serve as a resource for school staff regarding child development, learning theories, and evidence-based practices.
- Conduct functional behavioral assessments (FBAs) and develop behavior intervention plans (BIPs).
- Maintain accurate and confidential student records in compliance with professional and legal standards.
- Collaborate with external agencies and community resources to support student and family well-being.
- Stay informed about current research, trends, and legal mandates in school psychology.
Required Skills
- Master's or Doctoral degree in School Psychology from an accredited institution.
- Valid professional license/certification as a School Psychologist in Quebec (Ordre des psychologues du Québec).
- Proven experience in conducting comprehensive psycho-educational assessments.
- Strong knowledge of child development, learning theories, and psychopathology.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and consultation skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Proficiency in developing and implementing evidence-based interventions.
- Crisis intervention and de-escalation skills.
- Fluency in both English and French (oral and written) is highly desirable for serving the Quebec population.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working within a multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS) framework.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering professional development for school staff.
- Familiarity with current educational legislation and policies in Quebec.
- Experience with diverse student populations and cultural competence.
