Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently sort, separate, and process various types of scrap materials (metals, plastics, paper, electronics, etc.).
- Load and unload incoming and outgoing materials using manual methods or by operating basic machinery such as skid steers or forkllifts (if certified).
- Operate and monitor processing equipment like balers, shears, or shredders under supervision, ensuring optimal performance and safety.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, including sweeping, tidying, and managing material flow.
- Perform general yard maintenance and housekeeping duties as required.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, procedures, and relevant regulations, including wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Inspect materials for quality and type, identifying hazardous or prohibited items.
- Assist truck drivers with securing loads and proper material placement.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding operational status, safety concerns, and material issues.
Required Skills
- Strong physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) repeatedly throughout a shift.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Basic understanding and commitment to workplace safety procedures.
- Reliable, punctual, and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately.
- Capacity to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Prior experience in a labor-intensive role or industrial environment.
