Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver engaging, age-appropriate lessons across assigned secondary school subjects, adhering to the national curriculum and school standards.
- Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment that encourages student participation and critical thinking.
- Assess, monitor, and report on student progress, providing constructive feedback and implementing differentiated instruction strategies.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop curriculum, share best practices, and contribute to the overall academic program of the school.
- Maintain accurate student records, including attendance, grades, and behavioral observations.
- Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress, academic concerns, and overall well-being.
- Participate in extracurricular activities, school events, and professional development opportunities.
- Uphold the school's values, policies, and ethos, acting as a positive role model for students.
- Integrate technology effectively into lessons to enhance learning experiences.
- Provide guidance and support to students for their academic and personal development.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Education or a relevant subject area with a Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE)
- TSC (Teachers Service Commission) registration and a valid teaching certificate in Kenya
- Minimum of 2 years of demonstrable experience teaching at the secondary school level in Kenya
- Strong command of chosen subject areas and the ability to teach across different levels (e.g., Form 1-4)
- Excellent classroom management and organizational skills
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities
- Proficiency in using modern educational technology and learning platforms
- Ability to inspire, motivate, and connect with diverse student populations
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with international curricula (e.g., IGCSE, IB) is a plus
- Proven track record of improving student academic outcomes
- Active participation in school leadership or committee roles
- Experience in mentorship or student counseling
- Fluency in additional languages relevant to the local context
