As a Security Access Screener, you will be the first point of contact for individuals entering our facility, responsible for implementing and enforcing strict access control procedures. Key Responsibilities
- Verify identity and credentials of all individuals seeking entry to the premises, including employees, visitors, contractors, and deliveries.
- Operate and monitor security screening equipment, such as metal detectors, X-ray machines (if applicable), and handheld scanners, ensuring proper functionality and accurate interpretation.
- Conduct visual inspections of personal belongings, bags, and packages in accordance with established security protocols.
- Enforce strict access control policies and procedures, denying access to unauthorized individuals and escalating situations as required.
- Maintain accurate and detailed logs and reports of all access activities, incidents, security breaches, and suspicious observations.
- Provide clear, courteous, and professional instructions to visitors and staff regarding security procedures and expectations.
- Respond promptly and appropriately to alarms, emergency situations, and security alerts, coordinating with relevant personnel and emergency services as needed.
- Conduct regular patrols of designated areas to identify and report any potential security risks, hazards, or unauthorized activities.
- Assist in the implementation of emergency response plans, including evacuations and lockdown procedures.
- Collaborate effectively with other security personnel and departmental staff to ensure a cohesive and comprehensive security operation.
Required Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Strong observational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to remain calm, professional, and composed in stressful or high-pressure situations.
- Proficiency in operating basic security screening equipment and familiarity with access control systems.
- Sound judgment and strong decision-making capabilities, especially when faced with unexpected scenarios.
- Basic computer literacy for record-keeping, incident reporting, and communication.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as an integral part of a security team.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods, and to perform light lifting if required.

Preferred Qualifications
- Valid BC Security Worker Licence (or ability to obtain one prior to employment).
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Previous experience (6+ months) in security, loss prevention, customer service, or a related public-facing role.
- Knowledge of relevant security regulations, protocols, and best practices.
- Familiarity with specific access control software and surveillance systems.
- Bilingualism, particularly in languages common within the Queensborough community (e.g., Punjabi, Mandarin).
