Key Responsibilities
- Monitor security systems (SIEM, EDR, IDS/IPS) for alerts and anomalies, performing initial triage and escalation.
- Analyze security incidents and events, determining root causes, scope, and impact.
- Develop, implement, and refine incident response plans and procedures to minimize risk and downtime.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and security audits to identify weaknesses.
- Recommend and implement security enhancements and mitigation strategies based on assessment findings.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest security threats, vulnerabilities, and technologies to anticipate future risks.
- Assist in the development and enforcement of security policies, standards, and procedures.
- Participate in security audits and ensure compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., GDPR, ISO 27001).
- Provide security awareness training and guidance to employees across the organization.
- Collaborate closely with IT, development, and operations teams to integrate security best practices into all systems and applications lifecycle.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (3+ years) as a Security Analyst or in a similar cybersecurity role.
- Strong understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, SMTP, etc.) and security architectures.
- Proficiency with SIEM tools (e.g., Splunk, QRadar, ELK Stack) for log analysis and correlation.
- Experience with vulnerability scanners (e.g., Nessus, Qualys, OpenVAS) and penetration testing methodologies.
- Solid knowledge of operating systems security (Windows Server, Linux distributions, macOS).
- Familiarity with incident response processes, forensic analysis techniques, and threat intelligence.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of explaining complex security issues to diverse audiences.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken, for technical documentation and international collaboration.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Cybersecurity, or a related technical field.
- Relevant industry certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CEH, GSEC, CYSA+, OSCP.
- Experience with cloud security principles and platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Scripting skills (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash) for automation and data analysis.
- Knowledge of data privacy regulations and compliance frameworks (e.g., GDPR, BSI IT-Grundschutz).
- Prior experience working in a Security Operations Center (SOC) environment.
- German language skills are considered a significant advantage.
