Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and control access to the premises through designated gates for vehicles and pedestrians.
- Verify identification, credentials, and authorization for all individuals entering and exiting the property.
- Operate and monitor CCTV cameras and other security surveillance equipment to detect and report suspicious activities.
- Maintain accurate and detailed logs of all visitors, vehicle movements, incidents, and security observations.
- Respond promptly and appropriately to alarms, security breaches, and emergency situations, following established protocols.
- Conduct regular patrols of the immediate gate area and perimeter to ensure security integrity.
- Provide clear and courteous directions and assistance to visitors while enforcing security regulations.
- Collaborate with internal security teams and external emergency services as needed.
- Ensure all gate equipment, including barriers and card readers, are functioning correctly and report any malfunctions.
- Enforce company policies and procedures related to safety and security at all times.
Required Skills
- Valid Ontario Security Guard License (or ability to obtain prior to employment).
- Excellent observational and analytical skills with keen attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for clear reporting and interaction.
- Ability to operate CCTV and access control systems effectively.
- Basic computer proficiency for logging and report generation.
- Demonstrated ability to remain calm and decisive in high-pressure situations.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Physical capability to stand, walk, and perform duties for extended periods.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience (6+ months) in a security guard or gate monitor role.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Knowledge of security best practices and emergency response procedures.
- Experience working in a commercial or industrial security setting.
