Job Description
Are you a vigilant and dedicated individual looking for a vital role in ensuring safety and security? Moriah Hill Resort, a premier destination nestled on the serene shores of Lake Kivu in Kibuye, Karongi District, Rwanda, is seeking a committed and experienced Security Guard to join our night shift team. This full-time position is critical to maintaining the peaceful and secure environment our guests and staff expect and deserve, ensuring their peace of mind during the quieter hours.
As a Night Shift Security Guard, you will be the primary guardian of our resort during the evening and early morning hours. Your mission will be to meticulously protect resort property, prevent unauthorized access, and respond to any security incidents or emergencies promptly and professionally. This role demands a high degree of alertness, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to security challenges. You will be responsible for conducting regular, thorough patrols of the entire resort premises, which includes guest accommodations, dining areas, recreational facilities, staff quarters, perimeters, and parking lots, ensuring all entry and exit points are secure.
A key part of your duties will involve operating and monitoring state-of-the-art surveillance equipment, including CCTV systems, to detect and deter suspicious activities. You will meticulously maintain detailed daily logs of all activities, observations, and incidents, providing clear and concise reports to management. Identifying and reporting any unusual occurrences, safety hazards, or maintenance issues will also fall under your purview, contributing to the overall operational efficiency and safety standards of the resort.
This position requires someone who can effectively enforce resort policies and procedures while upholding a friendly and approachable demeanor when interacting with guests and staff. You will serve as a visible deterrent to potential threats, assisting guests with security-related inquiries or concerns, and providing initial response to emergencies such as medical incidents, fires, or disturbances. Strong communication skills are paramount for collaborating with team members and external emergency services when necessary. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular, thorough patrols of the entire resort premises during night hours.
- Monitor surveillance equipment (CCTV) to detect and deter suspicious activities.
- Control access points, verifying credentials of individuals entering and exiting the resort.
- Respond promptly and appropriately to alarms, security breaches, and emergencies (e.g., medical, fire).
- Maintain accurate and detailed logs of all activities, observations, and incidents during the shift.
- Enforce resort policies and procedures consistently and professionally.
- Provide a visible security presence to deter unauthorized activities.
- Report any unusual occurrences, safety hazards, or maintenance issues to management.
- Assist guests and staff with security-related inquiries or concerns.
- Collaborate with local law enforcement and emergency services when necessary.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Security Guard, preferably in a hospitality environment.
- Excellent observation and communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure.
- Strong sense of responsibility and integrity.
- Physical fitness and ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods.
- Basic computer literacy for logging and monitoring systems.
- Proficiency in Kinyarwanda and working knowledge of English.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in security operations or related fields.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Knowledge of local security regulations and protocols in Rwanda.
- Experience with advanced surveillance systems.
