Lesotho Security Services (Pty) Ltd is actively seeking a dedicated Security Officer to join our professional team in Ha Motsu, Mohale’s Hoek. As a Security Officer, you will be the frontline presence, responsible for maintaining a safe and secure premise, preventing loss and damage, and responding promptly to any incidents. Key Responsibilities
- Patrol designated areas regularly to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure security of doors, windows, and gates.
- Monitor surveillance equipment, inspect buildings, equipment, and access points; permit entry.
- Respond to alarms and investigate disturbances.
- Apprehend or expel persons engaging in suspicious or criminal acts.
- Write reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences.
- Call police or fire departments in cases of emergency, such as fire or presence of unauthorized persons.
- Circulate among visitors, patrons, and employees to preserve order and protect property.
- Control traffic by directing drivers.
- Warn persons of rule infractions or violations, and apprehend or evict violators from premises, using force if necessary.
- Operate detecting devices to screen individuals and prevent passage of prohibited articles into restricted areas.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a security officer or guard (minimum 1 year)
- Knowledge of legal guidelines for area security and public safety
- Excellent surveillance and observation skills
- Ability to operate detecting systems and emergency equipment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- High level of integrity and professionalism
- Physical fitness and ability to stand, walk, and lift for extended periods
- Valid driver's license (advantageous)
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent; further education or training in security management is a plus
- Certification in First Aid and CPR
- Prior experience in law enforcement or military
- Ability to de-escalate conflict situations effectively
