Job Description

We are seeking highly vigilant, professional, and dedicated Security Officers for a crucial Corporate Protection Duty role in Kibera, Nairobi. As a Security Officer with G4S Kenya, you will be on the front lines, ensuring the safety and security of our client’s corporate premises, assets, and personnel. This is not merely a guard position; it requires a proactive approach to security, a keen eye for detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to act decisively under pressure. You will be instrumental in maintaining a secure environment, deterring unauthorized activities, and responding effectively to any security incidents. The role involves working closely with corporate clients, understanding their specific security needs, and upholding the highest standards of professional conduct and discretion. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular patrols of assigned corporate premises, both internal and external, to identify and report any security risks, breaches, or suspicious activities.
  • Control access points, verifying identity and authorization for all individuals and vehicles entering and exiting the premises, strictly adhering to established protocols.
  • Monitor surveillance systems (CCTV, alarms) diligently, responding promptly and appropriately to alerts or observed anomalies.
  • Implement and enforce corporate security policies and procedures to ensure a safe and secure working environment.
  • Respond rapidly and professionally to alarms, emergencies, and incidents such as theft, vandalism, fire, medical emergencies, or unauthorized intrusions.
  • Complete comprehensive daily reports, incident reports, and other necessary documentation with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Provide excellent customer service and assistance to staff, visitors, and contractors while maintaining a professional and authoritative demeanor.
  • Liaise effectively with management, emergency services, and other security personnel during incidents or routine operations.
  • Perform routine checks of security equipment and ensure proper functioning, reporting any malfunctions immediately.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development programs to enhance security knowledge and skills in line with G4S Kenya's high standards.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience of at least 3 years in security operations, preferably in a corporate or commercial setting.
  • Excellent observational and patrolling skills with a strong attention to detail and situational awareness.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, in English and Swahili, for effective reporting and interaction.
  • Ability to operate CCTV and other security monitoring equipment proficiently.
  • Strong understanding of security protocols, emergency procedures, and basic risk assessment principles.
  • Ability to remain calm and decisive under pressure and during emergency situations, exercising sound judgment.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and discretion when handling sensitive information and situations.
  • Physical fitness to perform duties including prolonged standing, walking, and potential emergency response actions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Valid Certificate of Good Conduct from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
  • Prior training or certification from a recognized security institution (e.g., PSRA certification, or equivalent local security training).
  • First Aid and Fire Safety certification from a reputable training provider.
  • Experience with electronic access control systems and visitor management software.
  • Knowledge of local security regulations and laws in Kenya.
  • Defensive driving certification or experience operating company vehicles safely.
