Job Description

Standard Bank Lesotho is seeking a dedicated and experienced Security Officer for an immediate start to join our security team in Khanyane, Leribe. This is a critical full-time position responsible for ensuring the safety and security of our premises, assets, employees, and customers. As a Security Officer, you will be the first line of defense, playing a pivotal role in maintaining a secure and orderly environment, preventing unauthorized access, and responding effectively to any security incidents. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular patrols of bank premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion, ensure security of doors, windows, and gates.
- Monitor and operate surveillance equipment (CCTV, alarms) to detect any irregular activities.
- Control access to the bank premises, verifying identities and authorizing entry for employees and visitors.
- Respond promptly and effectively to alarms, emergencies, and security breaches, following established protocols.
- Investigate disturbances and incidents, completing detailed reports for management.
- Enforce bank security policies and procedures to ensure a safe and secure environment for staff and customers.
- Provide assistance and direction to customers and staff as needed, acting as a visible deterrent to potential threats.
- Maintain a high level of vigilance and situational awareness at all times.
- Collaborate with local law enforcement agencies when necessary.
- Administer first aid or CPR in emergency situations if certified.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Security Officer or in a similar role (e.g., military, police)
- Excellent observation and critical thinking skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to operate security equipment and systems (CCTV, access control)
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and ethical conduct
- Physical fitness and ability to stand, walk, and respond quickly for extended periods
- First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain immediately)
- Clean criminal record
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant security certifications (e.g., PSIRA equivalent in Lesotho)
- Previous experience in banking security or a high-security environment
- Knowledge of local security laws and regulations in Lesotho
- Valid driver's license
