Career.zycto is seeking dedicated and experienced Security Officers for our clients’ prominent mall and office premises in St Helens, Liverpool. This vital role involves maintaining a safe and secure environment for shoppers, tenants, and staff alike, protecting property and assets, and ensuring the smooth operation of daily activities.

As a Security Officer, you will be the front-line presence, ensuring the safety and security of premises through proactive patrols, monitoring surveillance systems, and promptly responding to any incidents or emergencies. Your day will be diverse, ranging from deterring unauthorized activities and managing access control to providing assistance and information to the public, all while upholding a professional and approachable demeanor. We’re looking for individuals who possess excellent observational skills, a calm approach under pressure, and a commitment to delivering exceptional security services. This role demands a proactive mindset, strong communication abilities, and the capacity to work both independently and as part of a cohesive security team. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular patrols of designated mall and office areas, both internal and external, to prevent and detect signs of intrusion, vandalism, fire, and other security breaches.
  • Monitor CCTV cameras and alarm systems, responding promptly and effectively to any alerts or suspicious activities.
  • Control access to the premises, verifying credentials and ensuring only authorized personnel and vehicles enter restricted areas.
  • Respond to emergencies, including medical incidents, fires, and security threats, coordinating with emergency services as required.
  • Write detailed and accurate reports on observations, incidents, and activities, ensuring all relevant information is documented.
  • Provide excellent customer service and assistance to visitors, tenants, and shoppers, acting as a point of contact for inquiries and directions.
  • Enforce company policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Act as a visible deterrent to crime, maintaining a professional presence and addressing any anti-social behaviour.
  • Conduct routine checks on security equipment and report any malfunctions or defects.

Required Skills

  • Valid SIA Door Supervisor or Security Guarding Licence.
  • Proven experience in a security role, preferably within a retail or corporate environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-focused approach.
  • Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective in high-pressure situations.
  • Proficiency in written English for accurate report writing.
  • Basic IT literacy for operating security systems and reporting tools.
  • Demonstrable reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.

Preferred Qualifications

  • First Aid at Work certification.
  • Knowledge of relevant security legislation and best practices.
  • Experience with CCTV monitoring and alarm response systems.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Conflict resolution training.
