As a Night Shift Security Officer, you will be the cornerstone of our clients’ protection strategy, safeguarding premises, assets, and personnel through proactive surveillance and rapid response. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular patrols of designated premises, internal and external, ensuring security and preventing unauthorised access.
- Monitor CCTV and alarm systems, responding promptly to alerts or suspicious activity.
- Control access to premises, verifying credentials of personnel and visitors during night hours.
- Complete detailed incident reports, daily logs, and other essential documentation.
- Implement emergency procedures, including evacuation protocols, and liaise with emergency services.
- Maintain a visible, professional presence, deterring criminal activity and ensuring a safe environment.
- Respond to and investigate disturbances, alarms, and other incidents, taking appropriate action.
- Undertake lock-ups and unlocks of premises, securing all entry points.
- Collaborate with day shift teams for seamless information handover and continuous security.
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations and site-specific security procedures.
Required Skills
- Valid SIA (Security Industry Authority) Door Supervisor or Security Guarding licence is mandatory.
- Proven experience as a Security Officer, preferably within a night shift or lone working environment (minimum 12 months).
- Excellent observational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure.
- Proficiency in operating CCTV and alarm systems.
- Basic IT literacy for report writing and electronic record keeping.
- A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (preferred for site access).
Preferred Qualifications
- First Aid at Work qualification.
- Experience in conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques.
- Knowledge of local security regulations and protocols in Scotland.
- Previous experience with access control systems and patrols within a corporate or industrial setting.
