Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular patrols of designated areas, both internal and external, to prevent and detect signs of intrusion, vandalism, fire, or other security breaches.
- Monitor surveillance equipment, including CCTV cameras and alarms, promptly responding to any suspicious activities or incidents.
- Control access to premises, verifying identification and authorizing entry for employees, visitors, and contractors.
- Respond effectively to alarms, emergencies, and disturbances, following established protocols and escalating situations as necessary.
- Maintain accurate records of daily activities, incidents, and observations in detailed reports.
- Enforce company security policies and procedures to ensure a safe and compliant environment.
- Provide assistance to staff and visitors in a courteous and professional manner, offering directions and support when needed.
- Collaborate with local law enforcement and emergency services during critical incidents.
- Conduct initial investigations into security-related incidents and report findings.
- Ensure all security equipment is in proper working order and report any malfunctions.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in security operations or a similar protective service role.
- Excellent observation and critical thinking skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Ability to operate surveillance equipment and basic security systems.
- Physical fitness and ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods.
- Basic knowledge of first aid and emergency response procedures.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and ethical conduct.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Conflict resolution and de-escalation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent; additional certifications in security management or related fields are a plus.
- Prior experience with access control systems and incident reporting software.
- Familiarity with local security regulations and protocols in Rivers State.
- Valid security guard license or certification.
