Career.zycto is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Security Operations Trainee to join our growing team in Yonge–Sheppard, Toronto. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the monitoring of security alerts and events from various security tools (SIEM, EDR, IDS/IPS).
  • Perform initial analysis and triage of security incidents, escalating to senior analysts as necessary.
  • Learn and apply incident response procedures, contributing to documentation and post-incident analysis.
  • Support vulnerability scanning activities and assist in the interpretation of scan results.
  • Participate in threat intelligence gathering and analysis to stay updated on emerging threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Generate reports on security posture, incidents, and operational metrics.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure robust security practices are integrated across the infrastructure.
  • Continuously engage in self-directed learning and professional development related to cybersecurity.

Required Skills

  • Basic understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, firewalls, VPNs).
  • Familiarity with common operating systems (Windows, Linux) and their security features.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with a keen eye for detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High aptitude for learning new technologies and security tools.
  • Fundamental knowledge of cybersecurity principles and concepts.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
  • Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Network+, or CySA+ (even if in progress).
  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation tasks.
  • Participation in cybersecurity competitions, CTFs (Capture The Flag), or relevant personal projects.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and cloud security concepts.
