Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the monitoring of security alerts and events from various security tools (SIEM, EDR, IDS/IPS).
- Perform initial analysis and triage of security incidents, escalating to senior analysts as necessary.
- Learn and apply incident response procedures, contributing to documentation and post-incident analysis.
- Support vulnerability scanning activities and assist in the interpretation of scan results.
- Participate in threat intelligence gathering and analysis to stay updated on emerging threats and vulnerabilities.
- Generate reports on security posture, incidents, and operational metrics.
- Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure robust security practices are integrated across the infrastructure.
- Continuously engage in self-directed learning and professional development related to cybersecurity.
Required Skills
- Basic understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, firewalls, VPNs).
- Familiarity with common operating systems (Windows, Linux) and their security features.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with a keen eye for detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High aptitude for learning new technologies and security tools.
- Fundamental knowledge of cybersecurity principles and concepts.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Network+, or CySA+ (even if in progress).
- Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation tasks.
- Participation in cybersecurity competitions, CTFs (Capture The Flag), or relevant personal projects.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and cloud security concepts.
