Job Description
Letseng Diamond Mines is seeking a highly vigilant and dedicated Security Operator to join our robust security team in Marakabei, Thaba-Tseka. This pivotal role is essential for maintaining the integrity of our high-value assets, ensuring the safety of our personnel, and upholding the stringent security protocols that protect our extensive mining operations. As a Security Operator, you will be on the front lines, responsible for continuous monitoring and swift response to security incidents, controlling access to sensitive areas, conducting regular patrols, and meticulously maintaining detailed incident reports. You will operate and manage advanced surveillance systems, including CCTV and alarm panels, working closely with fellow team members and other departments to foster an impenetrable and secure environment at all times. This is a demanding position that requires unwavering attention to detail, quick and decisive thinking, and a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating potential threats. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include continuous monitoring of CCTV feeds, promptly identifying and reporting any suspicious activities or breaches across our vast site. Managing access control points will be a core responsibility, requiring meticulous verification of personnel and vehicles entering and exiting the premises, ensuring only authorized individuals gain entry. Regular patrols of designated areas, both on foot and via vehicle, will be necessary to deter potential threats and identify vulnerabilities in our security infrastructure. In the event of an alarm activation or an observed incident, you will be expected to respond swiftly and professionally, following established protocols to assess the situation, secure the area, and escalate information to senior security personnel or emergency services as required. Accurate and timely documentation of all security-related activities, incidents, and observations is paramount, contributing to a robust record-keeping system that aids in investigations and continuous improvement efforts. You will also be a key contributor to maintaining a safe working environment by diligently enforcing safety regulations and actively participating in emergency response drills. Collaboration with internal stakeholders, including operations, health and safety, and human resources departments, is crucial for an integrated security approach. This role demands excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey critical information and coordinate responses under pressure. The successful candidate will demonstrate a high level of physical fitness to perform duties effectively, including standing for long periods, walking extensive distances, and responding physically to emergencies when necessary. Key Responsibilities
- Monitor CCTV systems and other surveillance equipment to detect and report suspicious activities or security breaches.
- Control access points for personnel, visitors, and vehicles, ensuring proper authorization and adherence to entry protocols.
- Conduct regular patrols of assigned areas, both on foot and via vehicle, to deter crime and identify security risks.
- Respond promptly and effectively to alarms, emergencies, and security incidents, following established procedures.
- Prepare accurate and detailed reports on all security-related incidents, observations, and activities.
- Enforce company security policies, safety regulations, and procedures diligently.
- Collaborate with other security team members, departments, and external law enforcement agencies as needed.
- Assist in the investigation of security incidents, theft, and other violations.
- Participate in emergency drills and maintain readiness for various crisis scenarios.
- Operate and maintain security equipment and communication devices effectively.
- Provide clear and concise communication, both verbally and in writing, regarding security matters.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Security Operator or in a similar security role.
- Excellent observational and analytical skills with keen attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to operate CCTV and alarm monitoring systems.
