Job Description
Shoprite Hlotse is actively seeking a highly motivated, vigilant, and dedicated Security Patrol Officer to enhance our team’s commitment to safety and security in Hlotse, Leribe District. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve proactive patrolling across all areas of the store, from the busy aisles and customer service points to the stockrooms and exterior parking facilities. You will be instrumental in monitoring for suspicious activities, deterring potential theft, and swiftly and professionally managing any security-related situations that may arise. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct systematic and thorough foot patrols of the store interior, exterior perimeter, and parking areas to identify and address security risks.
- Actively monitor surveillance systems (CCTV) for unusual activities, unauthorized entry, or potential theft.
- Promptly and professionally respond to all alarms, emergency calls, security incidents, and customer or staff concerns, following established protocols.
- Engage with customers and staff in a professional and courteous manner, offering assistance and ensuring a safe shopping and working environment.
- Prevent and deter shoplifting, internal theft, and other criminal activities through visible presence and proactive intervention.
- Prepare comprehensive and accurate incident reports for all security events, including detailed observations and actions taken.
- Collaborate effectively with store management, law enforcement, and emergency services during critical situations.
- Ensure compliance with all company security policies and procedures, as well as local laws and regulations.
- Conduct routine checks of safety equipment, access points, and emergency exits to ensure functionality and security.
- Assist in the de-escalation of disputes or confrontations, maintaining order and safety within the premises.
Required Skills
- A minimum of 6 months of demonstrable experience in security, loss prevention, or a related field.
- Exceptional observational skills and a meticulous attention to detail.
- Proven ability to maintain composure and respond effectively in fast-paced or high-stress situations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of interacting respectfully with diverse individuals.
- Fundamental understanding of security procedures, protocols, and best practices.
- Physical capability to perform job duties, including extended periods of standing, walking, and occasional lifting.
- Proficiency in writing clear, concise, and accurate incident reports.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays as per retail operational needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent educational qualification.
- Certification in First Aid and CPR.
- Previous experience specifically within a retail security environment.
- Basic knowledge of local criminal law and apprehension procedures in Lesotho.
