Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular foot and vehicle patrols of assigned properties and areas, identifying and reporting any security breaches or concerns.
  • Monitor surveillance equipment, access control systems, and alarm panels for any signs of intrusion, suspicious activity, or operational anomalies.
  • Respond promptly, efficiently, and according to established protocols to alarms, disturbances, emergency situations, and calls for assistance.
  • Observe, document, and report any suspicious activities, unsafe conditions, security hazards, or violations of company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate, detailed, and legible daily activity logs, incident reports, and patrol records using designated software or manual systems.
  • Enforce company policies and procedures, ensuring compliance by all individuals on premises, including visitors, contractors, and employees.
  • Assist in emergency evacuations, provide initial first aid, and offer support to emergency responders when necessary.
  • Liaise effectively with law enforcement, emergency services, site management, and client representatives as required during incidents or investigations.
  • Provide professional and courteous assistance to clients, visitors, and staff while maintaining a vigilant and security-focused presence.
  • Conduct thorough vehicle inspections to ensure patrol vehicles are in safe working order and essential security equipment is accounted for and functional.

Required Skills

  • Valid Alberta Security Guard License is mandatory.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent credential.
  • Minimum of 1 year of proven experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field.
  • Excellent observational skills with a keen eye for detail and the ability to accurately recall events.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective reporting and interaction.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications, including word processing and email, for report generation.
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, patrol, and perform duties for extended periods in various weather conditions.
  • Possession of a valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean driving abstract.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain within a specified timeframe).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education or certification in a security-related program.
  • Previous experience operating and monitoring CCTV surveillance systems and advanced access control technologies.
  • Familiarity with local bylaws, provincial security regulations, and emergency procedures specific to Leduc, Alberta.
  • Completion of advanced de-escalation, conflict resolution, or non-violent crisis intervention training.
  • Prior experience working in industrial, commercial, or institutional security environments.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing situations and prioritize tasks effectively.
