Job Description
Career.zycto is seeking proactive and dedicated Security Stewards to join our team for event nights in the vibrant Selly Oak area of Birmingham. This pivotal role involves ensuring the safety and security of attendees, staff, and premises during a variety of events, from concerts and sporting fixtures to cultural gatherings and private functions. As a Security Steward, you will be the welcoming face of security, balancing vigilant observation with excellent customer service to create a positive and secure environment for everyone. Your role is crucial in preventing incidents, managing crowds effectively, and responding calmly and professionally to any situations that may arise. Key Responsibilities
- Patrol designated areas to prevent and detect signs of intrusion, secure doors, windows, and gates.
- Monitor surveillance equipment and alarm systems, reporting any irregularities or suspicious activities.
- Conduct thorough bag and personal checks as required, adhering strictly to security procedures.
- Manage crowd flow and queue lines efficiently and courteously, particularly at entry and exit points.
- Respond promptly and appropriately to emergencies, including medical incidents, fire alarms, and security breaches, following established protocols.
- Provide clear directions and information to event attendees, offering assistance with a positive and helpful attitude.
- Liaise effectively with event organizers, emergency services, and fellow security personnel.
- Complete detailed incident reports and daily logs accurately and concisely.
- Enforce venue policies and regulations to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all patrons.
- Assist in the setup and takedown of security barriers and equipment as needed.
Required Skills
- Valid SIA Door Supervisor Licence (essential)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure
- Customer-focused approach with a friendly and approachable demeanor
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Physical fitness to stand and walk for extended periods
- Reliability and punctuality for scheduled shifts
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in event security or stewarding
- First Aid at Work qualification
- Knowledge of local security regulations and event safety guidelines
