Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department, including month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Prepare and review complex financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses in accordance with GAAP/IFRS.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in the preparation of audit schedules, liaising with external auditors to facilitate a smooth audit process.
  • Develop and implement robust accounting policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and internal controls.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior accounting staff, fostering their professional development.
  • Collaborate with other departments to support financial planning, analysis, and reporting needs.
  • Stay abreast of changes in accounting standards and regulatory requirements, ensuring continuous compliance.
  • Contribute to ad-hoc financial projects and process improvements as required by management.

Required Skills

  • ACCA, CIMA, or ACA qualification (or equivalent international certification).
  • Minimum of 4 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within a fast-paced corporate environment.
  • Strong knowledge of UK GAAP and IFRS principles.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, complex formulas).
  • Experience with major ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Superior communication and interpersonal abilities, both written and verbal.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities effectively.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the financial services or a related regulated industry.
  • Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Prior experience in supervising or mentoring junior accounting staff.
  • Familiarity with financial reporting software and business intelligence tools.
