Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Backend Engineer to join our innovative technology team based in Bindura, Mashonaland Central Province. This pivotal role involves leading the design, development, and maintenance of robust, scalable, and high-performance backend systems that power our diverse suite of digital products and services. As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will be instrumental in architecting solutions capable of handling complex data flows, ensuring the reliability, security, and optimal performance of our services. Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain highly scalable, reliable, and secure backend services and APIs.
- Architect and implement microservices-based solutions, ensuring high availability and performance.
- Collaborate with product managers and other engineers to define system architecture, technical requirements, and scope.
- Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code using best practices and design patterns.
- Lead code reviews, ensuring code quality, maintainability, and adherence to established standards.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning.
- Troubleshoot and debug complex issues, providing timely and effective resolutions.
- Optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability, addressing performance bottlenecks.
- Contribute to the technical strategy and roadmap for backend development initiatives.
- Ensure the security and integrity of data and systems in compliance with industry standards.
Required Skills
- 5+ years of professional experience in backend software development.
- Proficiency in at least one modern backend programming language (e.g., Java, Python, Node.js, Go).
- Extensive experience with relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Cassandra).
- Strong understanding of RESTful API design principles and experience building robust APIs.
- Experience with microservices architecture and distributed systems.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.
- Experience with version control systems, preferably Git.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with Spring Boot framework (for Java roles) or similar frameworks in other languages.
- Familiarity with message queues (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ) and event-driven architectures.
