Job Description
We are seeking a highly talented and experienced Senior Graphic Illustrator to join our dynamic Communications and Stakeholder Engagement team at Geita Gold Mining Limited. This is an exciting opportunity for a creative professional who can transform complex information and concepts into engaging, accessible, and visually compelling illustrations and designs. The Senior Graphic Illustrator will play a crucial role in enhancing our internal and external communications, safety campaigns, community development initiatives, and overall brand identity. You will be responsible for conceptualizing and executing a wide range of visual materials, ensuring brand consistency and adherence to GGM’s high standards. This role requires exceptional artistic skill, a deep understanding of design principles, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Your work will directly support our mission to operate responsibly and communicate effectively with all stakeholders, from our workforce to the local community and international partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute creative concepts and illustrations for a variety of platforms including print, digital, presentations, safety signage, and educational materials.
- Translate complex data, technical information, and corporate messages into clear, impactful, and visually appealing graphics and infographics.
- Ensure all visual outputs align with Geita Gold Mining Limited’s brand guidelines, maintaining consistency and a high level of quality across all projects.
- Collaborate closely with internal departments, including Safety, HR, Community Relations, and Corporate Affairs, to understand project requirements and deliver effective visual solutions.
- Mentor junior designers or contribute to team skill development, sharing best practices in graphic illustration and design.
- Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, from initial concept to final production, adhering to deadlines and budget constraints.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, new design software, and innovative illustration techniques to continuously elevate GGM's visual communications.
- Provide expert advice and creative direction on visual strategy for key campaigns and initiatives.
Required Skills
- Proven expertise in graphic illustration and visual storytelling, demonstrated through a strong portfolio.
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) and other relevant design software.
- Exceptional understanding of color theory, typography, layout, and visual hierarchy.
- Strong conceptual thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a keen eye for detail.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate design choices and receive feedback constructively.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Experience in developing materials for diverse audiences, including those with varying literacy levels.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in graphic design or illustration, preferably in a corporate or agency setting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Graphic Design, Fine Arts, Visual Communication, or a related field.
- Experience working within the mining, heavy industry, or large-scale manufacturing sectors.
- Proficiency in motion graphics (After Effects) or 3D illustration software.
- Fluency in Swahili is an added advantage.
- Experience with environmental, safety, and governance (ESG) related communications.
