Job Description

We are actively seeking a compassionate, experienced, and dedicated Senior Home Care Aide to join our growing team in Fraser Heights, Surrey. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive personal care, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting assistance, with utmost respect for client privacy.
  • Administer medication reminders and assist with self-administration as per individualized care plans and professional guidelines.
  • Plan and prepare nutritious meals and snacks, accommodating dietary restrictions, allergies, and cultural preferences.
  • Perform light housekeeping duties to maintain a clean, organized, and safe living environment for clients.
  • Offer compassionate companionship, engaging clients in meaningful conversations, hobbies, and social activities.
  • Assist with mobility and transfers, utilizing appropriate adaptive equipment and techniques to prevent injury.
  • Escort clients to medical appointments, errands, social outings, or community events, ensuring their safety and comfort.
  • Accurately monitor and meticulously report any changes in client health, behaviour, mood, or condition to the care coordinator promptly.
  • Maintain precise and timely client records, care logs, and other required documentation.
  • Adhere strictly to all health and safety protocols, company policies, and ethical standards of care and confidentiality.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 3 years of verifiable experience as a Home Care Aide, Health Care Assistant, or equivalent role.
  • Valid Home Support Worker (HSW) or Health Care Assistant (HCA) certificate from a recognized institution.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification (Level C or higher preferred).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate and patient demeanor.
  • Demonstrated empathy, reliability, and a genuine passion for elder care and supporting vulnerable individuals.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license and reliable access to a vehicle for client transportation.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken, sufficient for clear communication and documentation.
  • Physical ability to perform duties, including lifting, bending, standing, and assisting with transfers for extended periods.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with clients living with dementia, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, or other complex cognitive impairments.
  • Additional certifications in specialized care areas (e.g., palliative care, mental health first aid, diabetes care).
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a second language relevant to the Fraser Heights diverse community (e.g., Punjabi, Cantonese, Mandarin).
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems or digital care planning tools.
