Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior IT Trainer to join our dynamic team in Mashonaland East Province. This pivotal role involves designing, developing, and delivering comprehensive IT training programs to our internal staff, ensuring they possess the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in a rapidly evolving technological landscape. The Senior IT Trainer will be responsible for enhancing technical proficiency across various departments, from fundamental computer literacy to advanced systems and applications specific to the telecommunications industry. You will play a crucial role in onboarding new employees, upskilling existing staff on new software deployments, network protocols, cybersecurity best practices, and our proprietary digital platforms. This position requires a deep understanding of adult learning principles, exceptional presentation abilities, and a proven track record of translating complex technical concepts into easily digestible and engaging training materials. Beyond direct instruction, you will also be involved in conducting training needs assessments, evaluating program effectiveness, and mentoring junior trainers to foster a culture of excellence in our training department. Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and update engaging and effective IT training curricula, modules, and materials for various levels of technical expertise.
  • Deliver instructor-led training sessions, workshops, and one-on-one coaching both virtually and in-person.
  • Conduct thorough training needs analyses to identify skill gaps and determine appropriate training solutions across different departments.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through assessments, feedback, and performance metrics, making data-driven improvements.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to trainees, addressing queries and facilitating hands-on practice.
  • Stay abreast of the latest IT trends, technologies, and best practices relevant to the telecommunications industry and integrate them into training content.
  • Mentor and support junior IT trainers, sharing expertise and fostering their professional development.
  • Collaborate with IT development and operations teams to ensure training aligns with new system rollouts, software updates, and organizational objectives.
  • Manage training schedules, resources, and logistics efficiently.
  • Develop and maintain a robust knowledge base and documentation for IT systems and applications.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in IT training or a related educational role.
  • Strong technical proficiency in a broad range of IT areas including operating systems (Windows, Linux), networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, LAN/WAN), database concepts, and enterprise software applications.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and develop comprehensive training programs and materials.
  • Experience with learning management systems (LMS) and virtual training platforms.
  • Proven ability to conduct training needs assessments and evaluate program effectiveness.
  • Problem-solving aptitude and a commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Education, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant professional certifications (e.g., CompTIA CTT+, Microsoft Certified Trainer (MCT), Cisco Certified Instructor).
  • Master’s degree in Education, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
  • Experience working within the telecommunications industry.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices and training methodologies.
  • Project management skills for handling training initiatives.
