Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality, person-centred care and support to individuals with diverse needs.
  • Mentor, supervise, and guide junior support staff, fostering a collaborative team environment.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and regular review of individualised care plans.
  • Liaise effectively with families, guardians, healthcare professionals, and external agencies to ensure holistic support.
  • Manage challenging behaviours with empathy, patience, and professional de-escalation techniques.
  • Ensure strict compliance with CQC regulations, safeguarding protocols, and internal policies and procedures.
  • Administer medication safely and accurately, maintaining meticulous records as per guidelines.
  • Act as a key worker for assigned individuals, advocating for their needs and preferences.
  • Actively participate in all provided training, professional development programs, and team meetings.
  • Contribute to a positive and supportive living environment for all residents.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience (minimum 3 years) as a Support Worker in a care setting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and manage a small team.
  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making abilities.
  • Exceptional empathy, patience, resilience, and a non-judgmental approach.
  • Basic IT literacy for record-keeping and communication.
  • Understanding of safeguarding principles and CQC standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent qualification).
  • Certification in First Aid and Basic Life Support.
  • Experience working with specific client groups such as learning disabilities, mental health, or autism spectrum conditions.
  • Driver's license (desirable but not essential).
