Job Description

We are seeking a highly experienced and passionate Senior UI/UX Researcher to join our growing digital product team in Beitbridge. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in unearthing deep user insights that will shape the future of NMB Bank’s digital platforms, including our mobile banking app, online portals, and internal tools. You will lead end-to-end research initiatives, from identifying research questions and designing methodologies to conducting studies, analyzing data, and translating complex findings into actionable recommendations for our product and design teams. This position requires a strong blend of qualitative and quantitative research skills, a proven ability to advocate for the user, and a collaborative spirit to work closely with designers, product managers, and engineers. Key Responsibilities

  • Design and execute comprehensive user research studies (e.g., usability testing, interviews, surveys, field studies, card sorting, tree testing) across the entire product lifecycle.
  • Identify key research questions, define appropriate methodologies, and create detailed research plans to address business and user needs.
  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative data analysis, synthesize findings, and translate complex data into clear, concise, and compelling insights and recommendations.
  • Create and maintain user personas, journey maps, and other artifacts to evangelize user understanding across the organization.
  • Collaborate closely with product managers, UX designers, engineers, and business stakeholders to integrate user insights into product strategy and design decisions.
  • Present research findings and recommendations to various audiences, including senior leadership, effectively communicating the 'why' behind user behaviors.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in UI/UX research to continually evolve our research capabilities.
  • Mentor junior researchers and contribute to building a strong user-centric culture within the team.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology, Design, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 6 years (72 months) of experience in UI/UX research or a related role, with a strong portfolio demonstrating impactful research outcomes.
  • Expertise in a wide range of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies.
  • Proficiency with research tools for surveys, usability testing, and data analysis.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and storytelling skills, with the ability to articulate complex research findings clearly.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities, capable of deriving actionable insights from diverse data sets.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, agile environment.
  • Deep empathy for users and a passion for understanding human behavior.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or higher in a relevant field.
  • Experience working in the financial services or banking industry.
  • Familiarity with design thinking principles and agile development methodologies.
  • Experience with remote research tools and techniques.
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis software (e.g., SPSS, R, Python for data analysis).
