As a Sheet Metal Worker at Steelnet, you will work with various metals, including mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminium, utilizing a range of tools and machinery such as shears, brakes, presses, rollers, and welding equipment. Your daily tasks will involve interpreting complex engineering blueprints, schematics, and sketches to determine material requirements and fabrication sequences. Precision and attention to detail are paramount as you lay out and mark dimensions and reference points on sheet metal, ensuring accurate cuts and bends. You will be responsible for operating and maintaining fabrication machinery, ensuring optimal performance and adherence to safety protocols. This role demands a strong understanding of different welding techniques, metal forming processes, and quality control measures to ensure that all finished products are of superior craftsmanship and structural integrity.

Key Responsibilities
- Interpret blueprints, schematics, and sketches to determine material requirements and fabrication sequences.
- Cut, form, shape, and bend sheet metal using various hand tools and power equipment (shears, brakes, presses, rollers).
- Layout and mark dimensions and reference points on sheet metal materials.
- Operate and maintain fabrication machinery and tools safely and efficiently.
- Weld, solder, rivet, and bolt sheet metal components to create finished products.
- Inspect fabricated products for quality, accuracy, and adherence to specifications.
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on equipment.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies.
- Collaborate with engineers, designers, and other team members to optimize production processes.
- Identify and resolve fabrication issues and implement corrective actions.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Sheet Metal Worker or similar role.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Skilled in operating sheet metal fabrication machinery (e.g., shears, press brakes, rollers).
- Competency in various welding techniques (MIG, TIG, Arc welding).
- Strong understanding of different types of metals and their properties.
- Excellent attention to detail and precision in work.
- Good mathematical and measurement skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to safety protocols and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant trade certification or diploma in metal fabrication, welding, or a related field.
