Job Description
We are urgently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sheet Metal Worker to join our growing team in Fallowfield, Manchester. As a Sheet Metal Worker, you will be responsible for the fabrication, assembly, and installation of diverse sheet metal products. Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and engineering drawings to determine project specifications and material requirements.
- Measure, cut, bend, punch, and shape sheet metal using a variety of hand tools, power tools, and metalworking machinery (e.g., shears, press brakes, rollers).
- Assemble and join fabricated metal parts using techniques such as welding (MIG, TIG, Arc), soldering, riveting, and brazing.
- Operate and maintain CNC sheet metal machinery, ensuring precision and efficiency in production.
- Conduct quality control checks on finished products to ensure they meet design specifications and industry standards.
- Perform routine maintenance on equipment and tools to ensure optimal performance and safety.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies, maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
- Collaborate with team members, engineers, and supervisors to troubleshoot issues and optimize fabrication processes.
- Manage material inventory, cutting lists, and waste reduction efforts.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Sheet Metal Worker or similar role.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Strong knowledge of various metal types (steel, aluminum, stainless steel) and their properties.
- Expertise in operating sheet metal fabrication equipment (shears, press brakes, folders, rollers).
- Skilled in various welding processes (MIG, TIG, Arc) and other joining techniques.
- Excellent mathematical skills for precise measurements and calculations.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety procedures and practices.
- Strong attention to detail and a high degree of precision in work.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Sheet Metal Fabrication, Welding, or a related discipline.
- Apprenticeship completion in sheet metal work or a related trade.
- Experience with CAD/CAM software for sheet metal design and programming.
- Forklift operation certification.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team on complex projects.
