Job Description

We are urgently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sheet Metal Worker to join our growing team in Fallowfield, Manchester. You will operate advanced machinery, including press brakes, shears, and CNC equipment, ensuring all operations adhere strictly to safety protocols and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and engineering drawings to determine project specifications and material requirements.
  • Measure, cut, bend, punch, and shape sheet metal using a variety of hand tools, power tools, and metalworking machinery (e.g., shears, press brakes, rollers).
  • Assemble and join fabricated metal parts using techniques such as welding (MIG, TIG, Arc), soldering, riveting, and brazing.
  • Operate and maintain CNC sheet metal machinery, ensuring precision and efficiency in production.
  • Conduct quality control checks on finished products to ensure they meet design specifications and industry standards.
  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment and tools to ensure optimal performance and safety.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies, maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
  • Collaborate with team members, engineers, and supervisors to troubleshoot issues and optimize fabrication processes.
  • Manage material inventory, cutting lists, and waste reduction efforts.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Sheet Metal Worker or similar role.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Strong knowledge of various metal types (steel, aluminum, stainless steel) and their properties.
  • Expertise in operating sheet metal fabrication equipment (shears, press brakes, folders, rollers).
  • Skilled in various welding processes (MIG, TIG, Arc) and other joining techniques.
  • Excellent mathematical skills for precise measurements and calculations.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety procedures and practices.
  • Strong attention to detail and a high degree of precision in work.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Sheet Metal Fabrication, Welding, or a related discipline.
  • Apprenticeship completion in sheet metal work or a related trade.
  • Experience with CAD/CAM software for sheet metal design and programming.
  • Forklift operation certification.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team on complex projects.
