Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and process shipping documents, including bills of lading, packing lists, and commercial invoices.
  • Coordinate with freight forwarders, couriers, and internal departments to ensure timely and accurate shipments.
  • Track and monitor shipments, providing regular updates on status and resolving any transit issues.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records of incoming and outgoing goods.
  • Inspect shipments for discrepancies, damages, or shortages upon arrival and departure.
  • Ensure all shipping activities comply with company policies, national, and international regulations.
  • Operate warehouse equipment, such as forklifts or pallet jacks, if certified and required.
  • Assist in loading and unloading cargo, ensuring proper handling and storage.
  • Communicate effectively with suppliers, customers, and carriers to facilitate smooth logistics operations.
  • Participate in regular inventory counts and audits.
  • Assist with other general warehouse duties as needed to support overall operations.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Shipping Clerk or in a similar logistics role.
  • Strong understanding of shipping procedures and documentation.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with inventory management principles.
  • Ability to lift and move packages up to 25kg.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Forklift operator certification (e.g., counterbalance, reach).
  • Experience with logistics software or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
  • Knowledge of customs regulations and international shipping procedures.
  • GCSEs in English and Mathematics (or equivalent).
