Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and process shipping documents, including bills of lading, packing lists, and commercial invoices.
- Coordinate with freight forwarders, couriers, and internal departments to ensure timely and accurate shipments.
- Track and monitor shipments, providing regular updates on status and resolving any transit issues.
- Maintain accurate inventory records of incoming and outgoing goods.
- Inspect shipments for discrepancies, damages, or shortages upon arrival and departure.
- Ensure all shipping activities comply with company policies, national, and international regulations.
- Operate warehouse equipment, such as forklifts or pallet jacks, if certified and required.
- Assist in loading and unloading cargo, ensuring proper handling and storage.
- Communicate effectively with suppliers, customers, and carriers to facilitate smooth logistics operations.
- Participate in regular inventory counts and audits.
- Assist with other general warehouse duties as needed to support overall operations.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Shipping Clerk or in a similar logistics role.
- Strong understanding of shipping procedures and documentation.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with inventory management principles.
- Ability to lift and move packages up to 25kg.
Preferred Qualifications
- Forklift operator certification (e.g., counterbalance, reach).
- Experience with logistics software or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
