As a Shop Attendant in Retail Sales, you will essentially be the welcoming face of Chandarana Foodplus, responsible for creating a positive and memorable shopping experience for every customer who walks through our doors. Your day-to-day will involve much more than just processing transactions; it’s about actively engaging with shoppers, understanding their unique needs, and skillfully guiding them to find the perfect products from our diverse range. You’ll be expected to make personalized recommendations, provide detailed product information, and proactively contribute to achieving and exceeding sales targets through excellent service and suggestive selling techniques. Beyond customer interaction, this role demands keen attention to detail in maintaining an organized, clean, and visually appealing store environment. This includes accurate shelf stocking, merchandise replenishment, ensuring correct pricing displays, and helping to create an inviting atmosphere that encourages repeat business. You will also be entrusted with accurately handling cash and card payments, managing returns and exchanges efficiently, and assisting with general stock management tasks, including receiving deliveries and conducting inventory checks. Key Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly and provide excellent customer service, assisting them with product selection and inquiries.
- Proactively engage with customers to understand their needs and offer product recommendations to maximize sales.
- Operate POS systems, handle cash, credit card transactions, and manage returns/exchanges accurately and efficiently.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing sales floor, including shelving, product displays, and promotional materials.
- Replenish stock on shelves, ensuring proper rotation, pricing, and availability of products.
- Assist with receiving, unpacking, and organizing new inventory deliveries.
- Monitor stock levels and report any discrepancies or low stock items to the supervisor.
- Stay informed about current promotions, product features, and store policies.
- Collaborate effectively with team members to ensure smooth store operations and a positive working environment.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including health and safety regulations.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a retail sales or customer service role, preferably in a supermarket or similar environment.
- Proven ability to deliver exceptional customer service and build rapport with diverse clientele.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with fluency in English and Swahili.
- Basic mathematical skills and experience handling cash and operating a POS system.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
