Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately process customer transactions using our point-of-sale (POS) system, including scanning items, applying discounts, and collecting payments (cash, card, mobile).
  • Handle cash securely, provide correct change, and reconcile cash drawers at the beginning and end of each shift, ensuring strict adherence to company financial procedures.
  • Greet customers warmly, assist them with product inquiries, locate items, and provide helpful information to enhance their shopping experience.
  • Maintain a clean, tidy, and organized checkout area, ensuring shopping baskets and trolleys are readily available and aisles are clear for customer movement.
  • Efficiently bag groceries and merchandise, ensuring items are packed appropriately to prevent damage and for customer convenience.
  • Address customer concerns and complaints professionally and promptly, escalating complex issues to store management when necessary to ensure swift resolution.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including those related to loss prevention, customer service standards, and health and safety regulations.
  • Assist with other store duties as required, such as restocking shelves during quiet periods, checking product dates, and supporting colleagues to ensure smooth store operations and a positive team environment.

Required Skills

  • Proven ability to handle cash and manage transactions accurately.
  • Strong customer service skills with a friendly and approachable demeanor.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills in English and Sesotho.
  • Basic mathematical skills for calculating change and totals.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced retail environment.
  • High level of integrity, reliability, and punctuality.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a cashier or in a customer-facing retail role.
  • Familiarity with POS systems and retail operational procedures.
  • A High School Diploma or equivalent qualification.
