Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage all daily operational activities of the retail outlet, ensuring smooth and efficient service delivery.
  • Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of retail associates, conducting performance reviews and facilitating ongoing training and development.
  • Ensure exceptional customer service is provided at all times, handling customer inquiries, feedback, and complaints professionally and promptly.
  • Implement and enforce visual merchandising standards to create an appealing and engaging shopping environment.
  • Manage inventory effectively, including stock receiving, replenishment, transfers, and conducting regular stock counts to minimize shrinkage.
  • Monitor sales performance, analyze data, and implement strategies to achieve and exceed sales targets and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Handle cash management, including daily reconciliations, banking procedures, and ensuring adherence to company financial policies.
  • Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and safety of the shop floor and storage areas.
  • Prepare comprehensive daily, weekly, and monthly reports on sales, inventory, and staff performance.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all company policies, procedures, and local regulations.
  • Act as a key holder, responsible for opening and closing the shop securely.

Required Skills

  • Proven leadership and team management abilities with at least 3 years of supervisory experience in a retail setting.
  • Exceptional customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of retail operations, including inventory control and visual merchandising.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve sales targets and drive business growth.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications (MS Office Suite, POS systems).
  • High level of integrity and attention to detail, especially in cash handling.
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced retail environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Retail Management, or a related field.
  • Experience with specific point-of-sale (POS) systems relevant to the retail industry.
  • Knowledge of local market trends and customer preferences in Lamu.
  • Basic proficiency in Swahili is an added advantage.
