Job Description
We are actively seeking a dedicated and energetic Shopping Cart Collector to join our team in Hay River, Northwest Territories. This crucial role ensures our customers enjoy a convenient and pleasant shopping experience from the moment they arrive until they depart. As a Shopping Cart Collector, you will be the guardian of our parking lot’s order, directly impacting our store’s first impression and operational efficiency. Your efforts contribute significantly to customer satisfaction and the overall safety of our premises.
This position involves working outdoors in various weather conditions, demanding physical stamina and a commitment to maintaining a clean and accessible environment. You’ll be responsible for efficiently gathering shopping carts from the parking lot, store perimeter, and designated areas, returning them safely to the store entrance. Beyond just collecting carts, you’ll play an important part in visually inspecting carts for damage, reporting any issues, and occasionally assisting customers with loading their purchases or directing them within the store. The role requires a keen eye for detail, a proactive approach to keeping the area tidy, and a strong sense of responsibility to ensure the continuous availability of carts for shoppers. Key Responsibilities
- Efficiently collect shopping carts from the parking lot, store perimeter, and designated retrieval areas.
- Return carts safely and promptly to appropriate cart corrals or store entrances.
- Inspect carts for damage or hazards and report any issues to management immediately.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of cart corrals, parking lots, and store entrance areas.
- Assist customers with loading groceries or other purchases into their vehicles when requested.
- Provide directions or general assistance to customers as needed, demonstrating excellent customer service.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies while performing duties, especially regarding parking lot safety.
- Operate cart-pushing equipment safely and responsibly, if applicable.
- Work independently and as part of a team to ensure operational efficiency.
- Monitor cart inventory and ensure an adequate supply is always available for customers.
Required Skills
- Physical stamina and ability to lift, push, and pull heavy objects (shopping carts) repeatedly.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow).
