Career.zycto is seeking a dedicated Sidewalk Vendor Support Staff to be the backbone of Centretown’s bustling street markets and vending zones. Your day-to-day will be dynamic, spanning various outdoor locations across Centretown. You’ll be instrumental in setting up vendor areas, assisting with the physical demands of display arrangements, and ensuring compliance with local regulations and permits. This role requires someone who is not afraid of hands-on work, is comfortable interacting with a diverse range of people, and can think on their feet to resolve any operational challenges that may arise. You’ll be the first point of contact for vendors needing assistance, offering guidance on site logistics, power access, waste management, and general inquiries.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist sidewalk vendors with setup, breakdown, and daily operations.
- Monitor vendor areas to ensure compliance with local bylaws, permits, and operational guidelines.
- Provide on-site support, troubleshooting issues such as equipment malfunctions, power access, or logistical challenges.
- Act as a primary point of contact for vendor inquiries, offering accurate information and friendly assistance.
- Facilitate communication between vendors, Career.zycto management, and relevant city departments.
- Assist with the distribution and collection of operational materials and equipment.
- Report any incidents, safety concerns, or maintenance needs promptly to management.
- Maintain a clean and organized vendor environment, including waste management support.
- Engage positively with the public and vendors to foster a welcoming community atmosphere.
Required Skills
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in an outdoor environment
- Physical stamina and ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods
- Basic knowledge of local regulations pertaining to sidewalk vending (or willingness to learn)
- Customer service orientation and a positive, approachable demeanor
- Reliability and strong time management skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in retail, events, outdoor markets, or customer service
- Familiarity with Centretown, Ottawa area and local community dynamics
- First Aid/CPR certification
- Ability to communicate in French (an asset)
