Job Description

Career.zycto is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Site Foreman with a strong focus on labour management and site safety to join our esteemed client’s team in Bournbrook, Birmingham. This is a critical role responsible for overseeing daily on-site operations, ensuring projects are completed efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality standards. The successful candidate will be the linchpin between project management and the on-site workforce, driving productivity while strictly adhering to health and safety regulations.

As a Site Foreman, you will be instrumental in scheduling tasks, supervising tradespeople, and monitoring progress across various construction phases. Your expertise in managing labour resources effectively will be paramount to meeting project timelines and budgets. Furthermore, your unwavering commitment to fostering a safe working environment through proactive identification and mitigation of hazards will be essential. You will lead by example, promoting best practices and ensuring all site personnel comply with company policies and industry safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage daily on-site construction operations from inception to completion.
  • Effectively manage and allocate labour resources, ensuring optimal productivity and adherence to project schedules.
  • Implement and enforce stringent health and safety protocols, conducting regular site inspections and toolbox talks.
  • Monitor project progress, report on daily activities, and ensure work is carried out to specifications and quality standards.
  • Supervise, motivate, and coordinate tradespeople and subcontractors, ensuring efficient workflow and task completion.
  • Identify and resolve on-site issues, challenges, and conflicts promptly to minimise disruptions.
  • Liaise with project managers, engineers, clients, and other stakeholders to ensure clear communication and alignment.
  • Manage site logistics, including material deliveries, plant, and equipment, to support continuous operations.
  • Ensure all work complies with relevant building codes, regulations, and company policies.
  • Conduct site inductions for new personnel and ensure all necessary permits and documentation are in place.
  • Maintain accurate site records, including progress reports, attendance sheets, and safety logs.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Site Foreman in the construction industry.
  • Strong understanding of construction methodologies, techniques, and processes.
  • Demonstrable expertise in labour management and resource allocation.
  • In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations (e.g., CDM Regulations) and site safety procedures.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
  • Proficiency in problem-solving and decision-making under pressure.
  • Valid CSCS card and SSSTS/SMSTS certification.
  • First Aid at Work qualification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 or higher in construction-related discipline.
  • Experience with project management software.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Experience working on residential, commercial, or industrial projects in the Birmingham area.
