Job Description
Arknet Construction Company Ltd, a reputable and forward-thinking leader in the Kenyan construction industry, is currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Site Supervisor to lead our dynamic project teams in Nyeri County, Kenya. This critical role is tailored for an accomplished builder who possesses extensive hands-on experience and a proven track record in overseeing construction projects from groundbreaking to successful handover. As our Site Supervisor, you will be the driving force on-site, directly responsible for ensuring that all construction activities align with project plans, budgetary constraints, quality benchmarks, and the highest safety protocols. You will be tasked with the day-to-day management of site operations, including coordinating various trades, managing labor and materials, interpreting intricate architectural and engineering blueprints, and proactively resolving any site-related issues that may arise. Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate all on-site construction activities, ensuring strict adherence to project plans, specifications, and safety regulations.
- Manage and direct site personnel, including subcontractors, laborers, and tradespeople, to optimize productivity and quality of work.
- Monitor project progress, identify potential delays or issues, and implement proactive solutions to keep the project on schedule and within budget.
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with quality standards, safety procedures, and environmental regulations.
- Interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications, providing clear guidance and technical clarification to the construction team.
- Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports, detailing work accomplished, resources utilized, and any challenges encountered.
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of equipment, tools, and materials on site, minimizing waste and ensuring efficiency.
- Liaise effectively with project managers, engineers, architects, clients, and regulatory authorities to ensure smooth project flow.
- Implement and enforce company health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures rigorously.
- Conduct toolbox talks and safety briefings to promote a strong safety culture and ensure all team members are aware of risks and precautions.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 5 years of proven experience as a Site Supervisor or a similar leadership role in building construction.
- Strong technical knowledge of construction methods, materials, structural components, and relevant building regulations.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting architectural, structural, and M&E drawings and specifications.
- Excellent leadership, team management, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively.
- In-depth understanding of construction site safety standards and practices, with a proactive approach to risk management.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications (MS Office suite) and familiarity with project management software.
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Building Construction, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical field.
- Certification in Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) from a recognized institution.
- Experience with green building practices or sustainable construction techniques.
- Familiarity with local Nyeri County regulations and specific building codes.
- Fluency in Kiswahili and English.
