Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Skilled Masonry Worker to join our dynamic construction team in Rusape, Manicaland Province. As a key member of our project workforce, you will be responsible for executing various masonry tasks, ensuring all work is completed to the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency. This role requires a hands-on individual with a strong understanding of different masonry techniques, materials, and tools. You will be instrumental in building the structural integrity and aesthetic appeal of our projects, working closely with site supervisors and other tradespeople. The successful candidate will demonstrate a keen eye for detail, a commitment to workplace safety, and the ability to interpret blueprints and specifications accurately. Key Responsibilities

  • Lay bricks, concrete blocks, stone, and other masonry materials to construct or repair walls, partitions, arches, fireplaces, and other structures.
  • Mix mortar and other concrete-based components using appropriate ratios and techniques to ensure proper consistency and strength.
  • Cut and trim masonry materials to specified sizes and shapes, using hand and power tools.
  • Interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine materials required and correct dimensions for construction.
  • Construct and position scaffolding and hoists as needed, ensuring all equipment is safely erected and maintained.
  • Perform routine maintenance on masonry tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working order.
  • Adhere strictly to all site safety regulations, protocols, and best practices to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Assist in site preparation, cleanup, and material handling as required.
  • Collaborate effectively with other construction workers, supervisors, and project managers to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Inspect finished masonry work for quality, alignment, and adherence to specifications.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in various masonry techniques (bricklaying, block laying, stone work).
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction plans.
  • Strong understanding of construction safety standards and practices.
  • Excellent physical stamina and manual dexterity for prolonged physical work.
  • Skill in using and maintaining a variety of hand and power tools common in masonry.
  • Accurate measurement and calculation abilities.
  • Team-oriented with strong communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Vocational training or certification in masonry or a related trade.
  • Experience with different types of mortar and masonry materials.
  • Demonstrated experience in residential and commercial construction projects.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high quality standards.
