Job Description

Career.zycto is seeking a dedicated and experienced Masonry Worker to join our growing team, contributing to various construction projects across Epworth and the wider Harare Province. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled individual who takes pride in their workmanship and is committed to delivering high-quality results. As a Masonry Worker, you will be instrumental in constructing, altering, and repairing structures made of brick, stone, concrete blocks, and other masonry materials. You will work on a diverse range of projects, from residential builds to commercial developments, ensuring precision, durability, and aesthetic appeal in every task. We are looking for someone with a strong understanding of masonry techniques, safety protocols, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team. Key Responsibilities

  • Lay bricks, stone, concrete blocks, and other masonry materials to construct or repair walls, partitions, arches, fireplaces, and other structures.
  • Mix mortar, concrete, and grout to specified consistencies.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine layout and dimensions.
  • Measure, cut, and shape masonry materials using various hand and power tools.
  • Check vertical and horizontal alignment of courses with plumb-bob, level, and string line.
  • Clean and prepare surfaces for masonry work, ensuring proper adhesion and finish.
  • Apply plaster, stucco, and other finishes to walls and surfaces as required.
  • Erect and dismantle scaffolding, ensuring a safe working environment.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety regulations and company policies.
  • Maintain tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in laying bricks, blocks, and stone.
  • Strong understanding of mortar mixing ratios and applications.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction blueprints and specifications.
  • Skilled in using masonry tools (trowels, levels, plumb bobs, mixers, power saws).
  • Excellent physical stamina and strength.
  • Attention to detail and precision in workmanship.
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to varying project demands.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety.

Preferred Qualifications

  • National Certificate in Bricklaying, Blocklaying, or equivalent vocational training.
  • Experience with different types of masonry materials and finishes (e.g., natural stone, decorative brickwork).
  • Knowledge of local building codes and regulations in Zimbabwe.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Valid driver's license.
