Key Responsibilities
- Accurately assess the extent of vehicle body damage and determine the most appropriate and cost-effective repair methods.
- Perform skilled panel beating, precision dent removal, seamless panel replacement, and expert body alignment using specialized tools and advanced techniques.
- Conduct high-quality welding (MIG, TIG), grinding, and fabrication work as required for complex structural repairs.
- Thoroughly prepare vehicle surfaces for painting, including meticulous sanding, priming, filling, and accurate masking.
- Ensure all repairs meet or exceed manufacturer specifications, industry standards, and company quality benchmarks.
- Collaborate effectively with paint technicians, mechanics, and other team members to ensure a smooth and integrated repair process from start to finish.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and exceptionally safe working environment, strictly adhering to all company safety protocols and environmental regulations.
- Operate and meticulously maintain a variety of specialized tools, machinery, and equipment, ensuring their optimal functionality and longevity.
- Accurately and thoroughly document all repairs and services performed, including parts used and time spent, using our internal systems.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with service advisors regarding repair progress, potential delays, and any additional findings or recommended services.
Required Skills
- Proven expertise (minimum 3 years) in vehicle body repair and advanced panel beating techniques.
- High proficiency in MIG/TIG welding, spot welding, and other relevant metal fabrication methods.
- Strong understanding of automotive structural design, repair methodologies, and chassis alignment principles.
- Demonstrated ability to expertly use a wide range of specialized hand and power tools specific to panel beating and body repair.
- Exceptional attention to detail and an unwavering commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose complex damage accurately.
- Rigorous adherence to strict safety guidelines and workshop procedures.
- Effective time management, organizational, and multitasking skills to manage multiple projects.
- Ability to work efficiently both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Vocational training, diploma, or certification in Auto Body Repair, Panel Beating, or a related automotive discipline.
- Proven experience working on a diverse range of vehicle makes and models, including modern vehicles.
- Familiarity with computerised measuring systems for body alignment and structural analysis.
- Valid Jamaican driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Knowledge of paint preparation and finishing processes.
