Job Description
Are you a highly skilled and experienced Plumber looking to make a significant impact on challenging construction projects within a reputable firm? H. Young & Co. (EA) Ltd., a leader in civil engineering and building construction across East Africa, is actively seeking a dedicated and proficient Plumber to join our dynamic and growing construction team in Kilimani, Nairobi. This pivotal role requires an individual with a proven track record of excellence in installing, maintaining, and repairing complex water, drainage, heating, and ventilation systems in strict accordance with intricate blueprints, detailed specifications, and stringent local building codes.
As a crucial member of our on-site team, you will be instrumental in every stage of the plumbing process, from initial layout and precise pipe fitting to final system testing and commissioning. Your daily tasks will involve interpreting comprehensive architectural and mechanical drawings, accurately measuring and cutting various types of piping (copper, PVC, PEX, galvanized steel), and skillfully assembling components using appropriate techniques such as soldering, welding, threading, and solvent welding. A deep understanding of different plumbing fixtures, appliances, and their installation requirements is essential.

Key Responsibilities
- Install, repair, and maintain pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, water, and drainage systems according to specifications and plumbing codes.
- Interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine layout of plumbing systems and materials required.
- Cut, thread, bend, and assemble pipes using various tools and techniques.
- Locate and mark positions for pipe connections, passage holes, and fixtures in walls and floors.
- Test plumbing systems for leaks and other problems, using air, water, or other pressure gauges.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex plumbing issues efficiently and effectively on-site.
- Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations, company policies, and quality standards.
- Collaborate effectively with other construction trades, site managers, and project engineers.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring proper storage and handling of tools and materials.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior plumbers or apprentices, as required.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Plumber on construction sites.
- Thorough knowledge of plumbing systems, materials, and equipment.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings.
- Strong practical skills in pipe cutting, threading, bending, and soldering/welding.
- Familiarity with various plumbing tools and diagnostic equipment.
- Solid understanding of local plumbing codes and safety regulations.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Physical stamina and dexterity to perform demanding tasks in various weather conditions.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant plumbing trade certificate or diploma from a recognized institution.
- Experience working on large-scale commercial or residential construction projects.

- Valid first aid certification.
