Job Description
Wash It Laundry & Dry Cleaning is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Tailor & Clothing Repair Specialist to join our vibrant team in Remera, Kigali. As a Tailor & Clothing Repair Specialist, you will be the cornerstone of our garment alteration and repair services, ensuring that every item our customers entrust to us is returned in impeccable condition, meeting their exact specifications. You will be responsible for a wide array of tasks, from basic mending and hemming to complex alterations, custom fittings, and complete garment transformations. We are looking for someone who possesses not only technical proficiency with various sewing machines and hand-stitching techniques but also a keen eye for detail, an understanding of different fabrics, and a commitment to delivering superior craftsmanship. Key Responsibilities
- Perform a wide range of clothing alterations, repairs, and adjustments for various garments, including dresses, suits, trousers, shirts, and household items.
- Conduct fittings with customers to understand their requirements and provide expert advice on the best alteration solutions.
- Operate and maintain industrial and domestic sewing machines, overlockers, and other tailoring equipment safely and efficiently.
- Execute precise hand stitching, hemming, patching, darning, zipper replacements, and button repairs.
- Work with a variety of fabrics, including delicate materials, heavy textiles, and specialized garments, ensuring appropriate techniques are applied.
- Manage time effectively to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks, ensuring timely completion of all repair orders.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace, adhering to all company safety guidelines.
- Communicate professionally and courteously with customers, addressing their concerns and ensuring their complete satisfaction.
- Assist in managing inventory of tailoring supplies and notifying management of needed replenishments.
- Continuously improve skills and stay updated with new tailoring techniques and fashion trends.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a tailor or clothing repair specialist.
- Expertise in operating industrial and domestic sewing machines, including knowledge of maintenance.
- Proficient in a wide range of alteration techniques, including hemming, mending, patching, zipper replacement, and resizing.
- Strong understanding of different fabric types and their unique handling requirements.
- Excellent hand-stitching skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to interpret customer requests and translate them into precise alterations.
- Good organizational and time management abilities.
- Customer-centric approach with strong communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a busy environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or certification in Fashion Design, Tailoring, or a related field.
- Experience with custom garment creation or bespoke tailoring.
- Familiarity with Rwandan and international fashion styles and garment construction.
- Fluency in Kinyarwanda and working proficiency in English.
