Key Responsibilities
- Participate in monitoring security events and alerts from various security tools, including SIEM, EDR, and IDS/IPS.
- Assist in the initial triage, analysis, and investigation of potential security incidents to determine their scope and impact.
- Learn to identify and analyze common attack vectors, threats, vulnerabilities, and malicious activities.
- Support senior analysts in executing incident response procedures, remediation efforts, and post-incident documentation.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of SOC processes, security playbooks, and standard operating procedures.
- Engage in ongoing training, workshops, and self-study to enhance cybersecurity knowledge and technical skills.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and other IT departments to share knowledge and foster a strong security-first culture.
- Generate accurate reports and provide basic insights on security posture, trends, and incident metrics as directed by leadership.
Required Skills
- Basic understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, VPNs).
- Familiarity with operating systems (Windows, Linux, macOS) and command-line interfaces.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective reporting and collaboration.
- Eagerness to learn, adapt to new technologies, and proactively seek knowledge in the cybersecurity domain.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Foundational knowledge of cybersecurity principles, common attack methodologies, and defense strategies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CySA+, Google Cybersecurity Certificate) or actively pursuing.
- Prior academic background in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related field.
- Experience with scripting languages such as Python or PowerShell for automation tasks.
- Prior exposure or hands-on experience with security tools like SIEM (Splunk, QRadar), firewalls, or EDR solutions.
