Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of children, young people, and families in need within the Hucknall community.
  • Develop and implement tailored care plans, ensuring they meet statutory requirements and promote positive outcomes.
  • Provide direct support, advice, and intervention to individuals and families facing complex challenges, including safeguarding concerns.
  • Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners, including health, education, police, and voluntary sectors, to ensure coordinated support.
  • Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and vulnerable adults, adhering strictly to all relevant legislation and policies.
  • Manage a diverse caseload efficiently, prioritizing effectively and maintaining accurate, timely, and confidential records.
  • Advocate for service users, representing their needs and wishes in various forums, including statutory meetings and court proceedings.
  • Participate actively in supervision, training, and continuous professional development initiatives.
  • Engage proactively with local community groups and initiatives to build resilience and strengthen support networks.
  • Prepare clear, concise, and analytical reports for various purposes, demonstrating strong written communication skills.

Required Skills

  • Degree in Social Work (BA, BSc, MA, MSc) or equivalent qualification.
  • Current and valid registration with Social Work England.
  • Minimum of 2 years post-qualifying experience in a frontline social work role, preferably within family and community settings.
  • Demonstrable experience working directly with children, families, and communities with complex needs.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant social care legislation, including the Children Act 1989/2004 and the Care Act 2014.
  • Excellent assessment, analytical, and decision-making skills, with the ability to formulate robust care plans.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building rapport with diverse individuals and professionals.
  • Proven ability to work effectively under pressure, manage complex caseloads, and meet deadlines.
  • Commitment to anti-discriminatory practice and promoting equality and diversity.
  • Full UK driving license and access to a car for work purposes, as travel within the community is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-graduate qualification in a related field (e.g., Systemic Practice, Advanced Social Work Practice).
  • Experience in a specific area such as child protection, fostering, adoption, or family group conferencing.
  • Proficiency in using social care electronic record management systems.
  • Fluency in an additional language relevant to the local Hucknall community.
