Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments of clients and families to identify needs, strengths, and challenges.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans in collaboration with clients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Provide direct counseling, support, and psychoeducation to individuals and groups facing mental health issues, trauma, poverty, and other social determinants of health.
- Advocate for clients' rights and access to resources, including housing, employment, healthcare, and legal aid.
- Facilitate referrals to internal and external community services, ensuring continuity of care.
- Engage in crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques as needed.
- Maintain accurate, confidential, and timely client records and documentation in accordance with professional standards and organizational policies.
- Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and professional development activities.
- Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams, including doctors, nurses, psychologists, and other social service professionals.
- Adhere to ethical guidelines and standards of practice set by the relevant professional regulatory body.
Required Skills
- Master's Degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited institution.
- Eligibility for or current registration/licensure with the Ordre des travailleurs sociaux et des thérapeutes conjugaux et familiaux du Québec (OTSTCFQ).
- Minimum of 2 years (24 months) of post-graduate experience in a social work role.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments and develop effective intervention plans.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Proven ability to work effectively with diverse populations, demonstrating cultural competence and sensitivity.
- Excellent crisis intervention, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills.
- Proficiency in case management and record-keeping.
- Commitment to social justice, client advocacy, and ethical practice.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingualism (French and English) is highly preferred given the Montreal context.
- Experience in specific areas such as mental health, child protection, gerontology, or trauma-informed care.
- Knowledge of Canadian social service systems and resources.
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
