Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently install solar PV modules, inverters, racking systems, batteries, and other balance of system components according to engineering designs and local electrical codes.
- Perform detailed site surveys, assess potential installation challenges, and recommend optimal solutions to ensure system efficiency and longevity.
- Execute precise electrical wiring and connections for solar PV systems, ensuring strict compliance with all relevant safety standards and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct thorough testing and commissioning of newly installed systems to verify proper functionality, performance metrics, and adherence to design specifications.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance, comprehensive troubleshooting, and effective repairs on existing solar PV installations, identifying and resolving technical issues promptly.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety protocols, procedures, and health regulations, including the mandatory proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all work performed, including installation details, component serial numbers, maintenance logs, and inventory usage.
- Provide exceptional customer service, communicating clearly and effectively with clients regarding installation progress, system operation, maintenance schedules, and addressing any queries or concerns.
- Collaborate effectively with team members, project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure project completion on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
- Keep abreast of the latest solar technology advancements, installation techniques, industry best practices, and regulatory changes through continuous learning and professional development.
- Assist in the training and mentorship of junior technicians, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in solar PV system installation and maintenance.
- Strong understanding of electrical principles and wiring diagrams.
- Ability to work at heights and in various weather conditions.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Commitment to safety protocols and procedures.
- Good physical condition and ability to lift heavy equipment.
- Valid Class 4 driver's license (or equivalent).
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant trade certification in electrical or solar technology.
- Experience with different types of solar inverters and battery storage systems.
- Familiarity with Zimbabwean electrical codes and renewable energy regulations.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Experience operating construction equipment (e.g., forklifts, boom lifts).
