Career.zycto is seeking a highly creative and technically proficient Sound Design Specialist to join our innovative team in Sudbury, Ontario. This full-time role offers a unique opportunity to shape the auditory identity of our diverse range of digital products, from interactive experiences to multimedia content. As a Sound Design Specialist, you will be instrumental in conceptualizing, creating, and implementing compelling audio elements that enhance user engagement and immersion. Your day-to-day will involve everything from field recording bespoke sound effects and crafting intricate ambient soundscapes to mixing dialogue, music, and special effects. Key Responsibilities

  • Conceptualize, create, and implement original sound effects, ambient audio, dialogue, and music cues for various digital products.
  • Utilize digital audio workstations (DAWs) and audio middleware (e.g., Wwise, FMOD) for sound asset creation, editing, mixing, and integration.
  • Collaborate closely with product developers, artists, and engineers to ensure seamless audio integration and optimal performance.
  • Conduct field recording and foley sessions to capture unique and high-quality sound assets.
  • Manage and maintain comprehensive audio asset libraries, ensuring proper organization and accessibility.
  • Perform audio mixing, mastering, and spatialization to achieve a cohesive and immersive sound experience across platforms.
  • Debug and troubleshoot audio-related issues, providing timely solutions and optimizations.
  • Stay current with industry trends, tools, and best practices in sound design and audio technology.
  • Provide creative input and technical guidance on audio-related aspects throughout the product development lifecycle.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 4 years of professional experience in sound design for interactive media, gaming, or multimedia production.
  • Expert proficiency with industry-standard Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) such as Pro Tools, Logic Pro, or Reaper.
  • Demonstrated experience with audio middleware (e.g., Wwise, FMOD) and game engines (e.g., Unity, Unreal Engine).
  • Strong understanding of audio principles, acoustics, psychoacoustics, and signal processing.
  • Proficiency in sound recording techniques, microphone selection, and field recording equipment.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to articulate creative ideas and technical solutions.
  • A portfolio or demo reel showcasing a diverse range of sound design work.
  • Problem-solving abilities and a meticulous attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in Sound Design, Audio Engineering, Music Production, or a related field.
  • Experience with procedural audio generation or advanced synthesis techniques.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages for audio implementation (e.g., C#, Python).
