Key Responsibilities
- Design, set up, calibrate, and operate complex audio systems for a wide range of live events and installations.
- Conduct comprehensive sound checks and line checks, ensuring optimal sound quality and coverage.
- Perform live sound mixing for various productions, adapting to different genres and event requirements.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical audio issues quickly and efficiently during setup and live events.
- Collaborate closely with clients, event organizers, and other technical departments (lighting, video) to integrate audio seamlessly.
- Maintain, repair, and manage inventory of audio equipment, ensuring all gear is in excellent working condition.
- Develop detailed audio schematics and equipment lists based on event specifications.
- Stay current with emerging audio technologies, software, and industry best practices.
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior technicians and crew members as needed.
Required Skills
- Minimum 3 years of professional experience as a Sound Engineer, with a focus on audio setup and live mixing.
- Expert proficiency with digital and analog mixing consoles (e.g., Yamaha CL/QL, Midas Pro Series, Behringer X32).
- Strong understanding of acoustics, signal flow, gain structure, and audio processing techniques.
- Demonstrable experience with PA system setup, speaker deployment, and microphone placement.
- Ability to quickly diagnose and resolve technical issues in high-pressure live environments.
- Familiarity with audio measurement software (e.g., SMAART, Rational Acoustics RTA).
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and client-facing skills.
- Physical ability to lift and move heavy audio equipment.
- Valid UAE driving license is often required for transporting equipment to venues.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Audio Engineering, Music Production, or a related technical field.
- Certifications from major audio equipment manufacturers (e.g., Dante Level 3, Yamaha Certifications).
- Experience with network audio protocols (Dante, AVB, MADI).
- Knowledge of AV integration, video conferencing, and broadcast audio.
- Prior experience working in diverse event environments (e.g., hotels, exhibition centers, outdoor festivals).
- Basic understanding of stage lighting and visual production integration.
